Saskia began as a student at Bodies in Motion Dance School when she was 14yrs old, becoming a student teacher at 15, and then passing her Dance Teaching Certificate with Southern Federation of Dance at 19 years old. Saskia grew up sitting her dance exams with the SFD, receiving Honours with Distinction, the highest mark possible, placing her at the top 1% of students tested nationally.
In 2011, Saskia spent 12 months in Brisbane studying dance fulltime with RAW Dance Company. Here, she studied many subjects such as; jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, break, popping and locking, circus, salsa, gymnastics, Pilates, yoga, nutrition, drama, musical theatre and singing- just to name a few! Saskia had the opportunity to perform with RAW Dance Company on several occasions across Brisbane, as well as learning from some of the best teachers in Australia, such as Jack Chambers and Kelley Abbey. Saskia graduated from RAW Dance Company’s Full-time course with a Cert IV in Dance and Business. She is also a member of the Southern Federation of Dance and Australian Teachers of Dance and has completed her SILVER training with RSD. Saskia has a passion for all things dance and is committed to sharing this with her students. She believes that dance is a truly beautiful art form and helps to improve creativity, musicality and confidence to both children and adults!
Prue has been dancing for over 35 years. She started dancing when she was 5 years old, and continued throughout her teenage years studying ballet, tap, jazz, afro, funk and hip hop under the Norwest College of Dance in NSW. She holds a Certificate of Dance Teaching from the Queensland University of Technology and has also completed the Southern Federation of Dance Teaching Certificate. Miss Prue was the principal of Bodies in Motion from 2001-2011. She has a passion for teaching and believes that all students can achieve their very best with good technical training, safe dance practices and hard work. Miss Prue is the Head of Department for our Ballet classes and mentors our other team members to ensure our training is consistent across the board!
Sharlene has been dancing her whole life and currently holds a Diploma of Dance Teaching with the Australian Teachers of Dance Association. After teaching for several years in various studios throughout WA & NT, Sharlene and her partner decided to relocate to Port Douglas where she joined the BIM family and has been a part of the team for the past 6 years. She has a huge passion for dance and loves passing this on to her students. Miss Sharlene is the Head of Department for Highland Dance and keeps busy coordinating our Highland competition team ‘TARTAN BODIES’. This group of dancers’ travel to regional competitions throughout the year and represent BIM in the Highland world!
Tilly started her dance journey at BIM back in 2003! She quickly became an assistant teacher and then soon after, a senior teacher. She attended multiple conventions and workshops, keen to further her love of dance. In 2009 she relocated to Melbourne to study her bachelor of Education. Since returning to FNQ, Tilly has started a young family and currently teaches at Mossman State primary school. In 2021, Tilly dusted off her dancing shoes and combined her love of teaching with dance, joining the teaching team here at BIM once again. We love Miss Tilly’s infectiously positive attitude and you can always find her cracking a joke or exchanging a smile around the studio!
Kate began dancing at BIM when she was younger and continued her training in Cairns during her teen years. For the past 3x years, Kate has been teaching at a local dance studio in Cairns. Here, she also completed her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management too! Kate returned to BIM last year as the Head of Department and senior facilitator of our READY SET DANCE program is has now done her GOLD RSD training! After helping to launch the program in 2021, Kate is excited to hit the ground running in this year with lots of new and exciting ideas. Miss Kate brings a fantastic energy and enthusiasm to the BIM team which shines in her classes and her relationships with our littlest dancers.
Mia is one of the longest standing members of the BIM family! She began her dance journey with us when she was just 6 years old and continued training with us up until she graduated High School. She then successfully auditioned for a full time dance course with DLDC in Brisbane. Here, she studied for 2 years and graduated with a Diploma of dance. Since relocating back to the Douglas Shire, Mia has returned to BIM to share her knowledge and continue her training! We love having Mia ‘home’ and are excited for her to take on her own classes in 2022 to share her love of dance with our BIM kids!
Zea-Sian started dancing at the age of 7. She trains in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop and Contemporary. She is also heavily involved in our Eisteddfod Teams, performing and competing solos and troupes across the region. Miss Zea became an assistant teacher in 2018 and during that time has developed fantastic relationships with her students and fellow teachers. You can often find Zea helping out around the studio in all facets. This year, Zea-Sian has enrolled in a Certificate IV in dance teaching and management with the Australian Teachers of dancing and has also completed her Bronze teacher traing with Ready Set Dance. She will be completing this alongside her Year 11 & 12 studies and is excited to take the next step in her teaching career. Miss Zea is a naturally confident teacher and we are excited to see where her studies take her!
Evie has been a student at Bodies for over 10 years now. She is a confident and caring individual who has developed a positive relationship with her peers and staff. Miss Evie has been involved in our eisteddfod team and performs at other community and corporate events whenever she gets the chance. In 2021 Miss Evie was invited to become an assistant teacher after completing her Bronze teacher training with Ready Set Dance and is working alongside Miss Kate with our tiniest Ready Set Dancers. The little ones absolutely adore Miss Evie and she can’t wait to be assisting with them again this year!
Emilie has been dancing for most of her life! She studies all genres and excels in anything she tries her hand at. Her most recent accomplishment was receiving Honours with Distinction for her level Jazz 8 exam. This is the pre-requisite level to sit the Teaching Certificate. Emilie displays fantastic qualities of what it takes to be a teacher and embodies everything we value here at BIM and the culture of our studio. We are looking forward to watching Emilie’s journey as an assistant teacher over the next few years!
Jenn grew up in a musical family and has been singing, dancing and playing the piano from an early age. She is a graduate of the Melba Conservatorium of Music and has pursued many performance opportunities both in Australia and Overseas. She has successfully obtained performance contracts in Taiwan, Singapore, England, Japan and India!
In 2004, Jenn opened 'Creative Souls Studio' in Melbourne where she started to pass on her passion for singing to her younger students. In 2018, she relocated to Port Douglas and opened up a Port Douglas branch, where she continues to share her love of music to locals of the Douglas Shire!
Jenn has been heavily involved in multiple Clink Theatre productions over the past 4 years, both on and off stage.
Jody has been an employee and parent of Bodies in Motion Dance School for the past 20 years. She thoroughly enjoys managing the office and the day to day running of the studio.
